Most of the overpayments were genuine mistakes, but an estimated $676.3 million was fraud. Key facts: That’s according to a report from the Department of Labor that was conducted by the consulting group Regis & Associates. It reviewed labor departments in Connecticut, Florida, New Jersey, North Carolina, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island, South Carolina, Texas, Washington and Wisconsin from April 2020 to September 2022.
