A half-mile-long rainbow mural has been painted in Washington, DC, to celebrate “World Pride.” The vibrant “Rainbow Road” painting will stretch down 15th Street between V and O Streets NW. Neither the Capital Pride Alliance, DDOT, nor related sources (e.g., WorldPride websites, news articles, or public records) state the mural’s cost to taxpayers. Similar large-scale street murals in other cities have ranged from $20,000 to $100,000. DC’s now-removed “Black Lives Matter Plaza” mural, which covered a portion of 16th Street NW, cost $271,231 to repaint in 2023, including $217,680 in labor and $53,551 in paint supplies.
