An Alvarado, Texas police officer was shot and wounded in the neck late Friday night in an apparent ambush attack by an armed group outside the ICE Prairieland Detention Center in Alvarado, located just south of Dallas-Fort Worth. Several suspects are reported in custody. The officer was taken to a local hospital, was treated and released. The officer was apparently “ambushed during a protest-related incident” according to the Texas Municipal Police Association: An Alvarado officer was shot this morning (sic)—possibly ambushed during a protest-related incident near a federal detention facility.
