As Texas reels from the devastating floods that claimed dozens of lives—including children—many are asking why. While some will chalk it up to “just the weather,” others see a deeper spiritual warning in the timing.

Just days before the floodwaters rose, President Donald Trump made headlines with a bold proposal: that the United States should “take over Gaza” after the Israel–Hamas war, inviting wealthy Muslim nations to rebuild the territory. He also criticized Israel’s military response to Iran, urging restraint and suggesting that Gulf nations could help bring peace through negotiation.

To many Americans, these may sound like practical, even diplomatic ideas. But for those of us who take the Bible seriously—and believe God’s promises to Abraham still matter—these kinds of proposals cross a dangerous line.

God’s Warning Is Clear

In Genesis 12:3, God made a covenant with Abraham and his descendants, saying:

“I will bless those who bless you, and whoever curses you I will curse.”

This wasn’t just a poetic expression—it was a divine standard that still echoes through history. Every time the United States has supported Israel, we have prospered. And nearly every time we’ve pressured Israel to divide its land or stand down against her enemies, catastrophe has followed.

In Joel 3:2, God speaks of future judgment against nations that:

“…have divided up My land.”

From a biblical view, Gaza is not merely a disputed territory—it’s part of the Promised Land given by God to Israel. It is not America’s to take over, sell off, or repurpose.

A Pattern of Warning

Consider the timeline:

  • February–March 2025: Trump floats the idea of the U.S. taking control of Gaza, with Gulf states funding its redevelopment.
  • June 8, 2025: Trump publicly urges Israel to stop retaliating against Iran and instead seek negotiated peace.
  • June 12, 2025: Catastrophic flash floods strike central Texas, killing more than 37 people, including children.

This isn’t the first time something like this has happened:

  • In 2005, the U.S. pushed Israel to evacuate Gaza—days later, Hurricane Katrina destroyed New Orleans.
  • In 1991, President George H.W. Bush opened land-for-peace talks in Madrid—on the same day, the “Perfect Storm” slammed the East Coast.
  • In 2010, the U.S. backed a UN rebuke of Israeli settlements—and the Deepwater Horizon explosion happened the next day.

These aren’t coincidences. They are warnings.

But When We Blessed Israel…

Just as judgment follows defiance, blessing follows obedience. Some of the most prosperous and stable periods in U.S. history came during times we honored God’s covenant with Israel:

  • 1948: The U.S. was the first nation to recognize the State of Israel. In the years that followed, America rose to become the world’s leading superpower.
  • 1967: During the Six-Day War, the U.S. stood firmly behind Israel. That same year, the U.S. experienced major economic growth and global dominance.
  • 1973: President Nixon sent massive military aid to Israel during the Yom Kippur War. Despite the oil crisis, America maintained its strategic strength.
  • 2017–2020: The U.S. moved its embassy to Jerusalem and brokered the Abraham Accords. The economy boomed with record stock market highs and low unemployment.

When we bless Israel, we are blessed. It’s that simple.

What’s at Stake

Trump has historically been one of Israel’s strongest allies. He moved the U.S. embassy to Jerusalem, recognized the Golan Heights, and helped broker peace deals between Israel and Arab nations. But now, even he appears to be treading into dangerous territory by proposing foreign control of Gaza and undermining Israel’s right to act against Iran.

If Trump—knowingly or not—joins the long list of American leaders who meddle in God’s covenant land, then we should not be surprised when judgment follows. Texas may be only the beginning.

A Call to Repentance and Resolve

We must pray—not just for the victims in Texas, but for our leaders. Pray that they will bless Israel, not pressure her. That they will stand with God’s covenant people, not broker their inheritance to those who wish to destroy them.

And we must remember: when America blesses Israel, we are blessed. But when we divide her land, we put ourselves in the path of judgment.

Let us not tempt God’s justice. Let us stand, unapologetically, with Israel.
