Ernest Edward “Ed” Moffitt, Jr., age 78, of Marceline, Missouri, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, July 30, 2025, at Life Care Center of Brookfield.
Ed was born on July 29, 1947, in Brookfield, Missouri, the son of Ernest Edward Moffitt and Claudia Ophelia (Garr) Moffitt. He graduated from Linneus High School in 1965 and later dedicated many years of hard work as a member of the road crew for MODOT.
A proud member of the Eagles Lodge in Marceline, Ed found joy in cooking for lodge events, spending time outdoors hunting and fishing, and being surrounded by his friends and family. His greatest happiness came from time spent with his grandchildren, who brought him endless pride and joy.
Ed is survived by his two children, Jessie Moffitt and Buck Moffitt, both of Marceline, MO; two grandsons, Vandon Duffey and Tayson Stumph; two sisters, Joan Morris of Bevier and Virginia Kaps of Belton, MO; as well as several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents and his grandson, Evan Duffey.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, August 5, 2025, at Delaney Funeral Home in Marceline, with Pastor Joe Cuminale officiating. Visitation will be held from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. on Monday, August 4, 2025, also at Delaney Funeral Home. Burial will follow in Parklawn Memorial Gardens in Brookfield, Missouri.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association in Ed’s memory.
