Gregory “Greg” Allen Smith, 71, of Wood Heights, passed away Tuesday, August 5, 2025, at his home.
Greg was born on February 18, 1954, in Excelsior Springs, the son of Donald “Don” and Joann (Irons) Smith. He was united in marriage to Vicki L. Hoard of Richmond for 46 years.
Survivors include: daughter, Megan (Craig) Minton of Richmond; son, Ryan Smith (Nickie Spero) of Excelsior Springs; two grandchildren, Karmyn Minton (Jesse Chapman) and Jack Minton; and three brothers: Roger (Mona) Smith of Kansas City, Steve (Sara) Smith of Melbourne, FL, and Brian Smith of St. Louis.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Greg attended junior college, where he earned his associate degree. He had a deep love for music and enjoyed playing his guitar, as well as a lifelong interest in trains. He also had a love for jets and attending air shows. Greg was an avid sports fan, cheering for the Kansas City Chiefs and following hockey. He took great pride in his career at Ford Motor Company, a job he truly loved.
Greg was a kind and giving man who would do anything for others. He was a talented artist, expressing his creativity through woodworking and welding, and he found simple peace in riding his lawn mower. Above all, he cherished his family, who were the center of his life.
