Judge Ana Reyes, a Biden appointee, held a hearing on Friday to consider DC’s emergency bid to block President Trump’s federal takeover of DC’s police department. On Thursday evening, US Attorney General Pam Bondi named the head of the DEA as DC’s “emergency police commissioner” which will “grant him powers of a police chief,” AP reported. Bondi’s decision to name Terry Cole as DC’s emergency police commissioner comes as President Trump federalized DC to quell the violence.
