David Turner, 80, Carrollton, Missouri passed away August 18, 2025 at his home. A visitation will be held from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM on Thursday, August 28, 2025 at First Baptist Church of Carrollton, 124 North Folger Street, Carrollton, Missouri 64633. A memorial service will follow the visitation, at the church, at 11:00 AM. Interment, with Military Honors, will take place at The Missouri State Cemetery at Higginsville, 20109 Business 13, Higginsville, Missouri 64037 at 3:00 PM the same day. Mr. Turner was born in Flint, Michigan on December 30, 1944 to Kenneth Wayne and Alice Olivira (Husted) Turner.
David graduated from Marshfield High School in Marshfield, Missouri with the class of 1962. In High school he was inducted into the National Honor Society. He then enrolled into Southern Missouri State University in Springfield, Missouri where he continued to excel in academics as well as joining the ROTC. He married Vicky Ray in 1964 and together they had 2 children Michael and Autumn. David graduated from SMS in August of 1967 with bachelor degrees in physics and math, and as a 2nd Lieutenant. He joined the United States Army the same month. He was placed at the Ordnance Office School, in Aberdeen, Maryland for 6 months, before becoming attached to the 708th Maintenance Battalion, 8th Infantry Division in Baumholder, Germany. He achieved the rank of Captain in just 2 years. David was discharged on January 17, 1971. Following his time serving the country, David worked mainly in finances. He was a manager at GFC Loan Company, and later became a consumer credit examiner and a bank examiner for the state of Missouri. He married his best friend, Mildred ‘Milly’ Corf on January 15, 2005. David enjoyed surfing the internet, reading, light gardening and yard work, and spending time with his family and close friends. He was a member at First Baptist Church of Carrollton. David enjoyed volunteering at The Carrollton Senior Center, The Carrollton Library and The Carroll House.
David was preceded in death by his parents, Wayne and Alice Turner.
He is survived by his wife, Milly L. Turner, of the home, son Michael ‘Mike’ Turner of Linn, Missouri, daughter Autumn (Brian) Butschky of Springfield, Missouri, grandchildren; Drew Turner, Seth Horton and Gabi Horton, step children; Joey (Lucinda) Goetting, Jacklyn (John) Meyer, Jessica (Ryan) White, Samantha (Jimmy) Waters and A.J. Goetting, step grandchildren; Josie, Bryston, Jace, Zoe, Cami, Chloe, Jackson and Ava. David is also survived by his 2 brothers Thomas O. Turner of Adams, Wisconsin and Gary W. Turner of Dallas, Texas, in addition to a host of friends and extended family.
In lieu of flowers, it’s suggested that memorial contributions be made to the family, so that they can be divided between numerous charitable organizations that were important to David.
