The 2025-26 school year is underway across Chariton County, and students, staff, and families have enjoyed a vibrant start. Brunswick, Keytesville, Northwestern, and Salisbury schools hosted a variety of back-to-school events, athletic team introductions, and academic celebrations, while emphasizing safety, leadership, and community engagement.
Thunder Football Brings Three Districts Together
The combined athletic program of Keytesville, Brunswick, and Northwestern, known as the Thunder teams, kicked off the fall season with the annual Meet the Thunder event on Thursday, August 21, at Cal Hubbard Field in Keytesville. The event introduced Junior High and Varsity football players, cheerleaders, and softball teams from all three districts to excited crowds. Hot dogs, chips, and drinks were provided by sponsors Regional Missouri Bank and Nutrien Ag Solutions.
Fans and families can still show their support by ordering Thunder Football apparel, including shirts, hoodies, shorts, and hats, through the online store. Players will receive an additional complimentary shirt featuring sponsor logos. Orders are available here: Thunder Football BoltUp Store. Orders close at midnight on August 27.
Brunswick R-II Celebrates FFA Excellence and Senior Activities

Both awards will be formally recognized at the National FFA Convention in Indianapolis this October.
