Glenda “Jeanne” Griffing, 82, of Richmond, passed away Wednesday, September 3, 2025, at Oak Ridge Assisted Living in Richmond.
Jeanne was born on March 25, 1943, in Richmond, the daughter of Glenn Gene and Roberta (Scoville) McClung. She was first united in marriage to James “Jim” Nolker of Richmond on November 3, 1962; they later divorced. She was later united in marriage to David Arnold Griffing of Richmond on November 10, 2010; he preceded her in death on May 27, 2021.
Survivors include: three sons: David “Brett” (Jill) Nolker of Reidsville, NC, James “Brandon” Nolker of Tulsa, OK, and Michael “Blaine” (Stacy) Nolker of Hardin; seven grandchildren: Daniel (Katy) Nolker, Allison (Rupert) Medford, Matthew Nolker, Kaitlyn (Drew) Nolker, Lucas Nolker, Avery Nolker (Niklas Scott), and Kelsey Nolker; seven great-grandchildren; and three sisters: Judy (Ted) Weber of Richmond, Jan (Mario) Cefalu of Boise, ID, and Kathy Winders of Richmond.
In addition to her parents and husband, Jeanne was preceded in death by her brother, Jerold Richard Winders.
Jeanne was raised by her mother and later adopted by George J. Winders following an accident that claimed her father’s life while working as a lineman. She was a 1961 graduate of Richmond High School and, later in life, proudly earned her Bachelor of Arts degree from Drury College in Springfield. In addition to being a devoted housewife and homemaker, Jeanne held various jobs outside the home. After completing her degree, she taught at Job Corps in Excelsior Springs and also worked as a property manager. Her strong business sense proved invaluable in supporting her family through the years.
Above all, Jeanne was a gifted artist. She poured her creativity into painting and drawing, blessing her loved ones with many treasured works of art that continue to be cherished. She had a deep love for her Lord and Savior, and her faith was central to her life. Jeanne’s greatest joy, however, came from her role within her family-she embodied everything a mother and grandmother was meant to be.
