Doris Leola Carmichael, 100, of Kansas City, passed away Wednesday, September 17, 2025, at NorthCare Hospice House in North Kansas City.

Doris was born on March 22, 1925, in Slater, the daughter of George Miller and Sarah Ellen “Sadie” (Clemens) Wolford. She was united in marriage to Herbert Garland “Pete” Carmichael in 1946; he preceded her in death on December 21, 1996.

Survivors include: three daughters: Debra (David) Ray of Kearney, Patricia (Larry) Brooks of Mesa, AZ, and Carol Sue Taylor of Redding, CA; daughter-in-law, Stephanie Carmichael of Kansas City; six grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.

In addition to her parents and husband, Doris was preceded in death by her son, Larry Carmichael, five brothers, and four sisters.

Doris was a devout Christian whose faith guided every aspect of her life. She prayed faithfully for her family and found great joy in simple pleasures such as reading, birdwatching, gazing at the clouds, and tending to her garden. She devoted much of her time to volunteering at her church, believing her true purpose was to give back to her family, friends, and community. The love she shared and the countless hours she gave in service can never be measured, and she will be deeply missed by all who had the blessing of knowing her.

The family suggests memorial contributions be made to NorthCare Hospice House, 2800 Clay Edwards Drive, Suite 2, North Kansas City, MO 64116.
