Brunswick R-II: History, Literacy, and Athletics
Brunswick R-II students have recently participated in a variety of educational and extracurricular activities. Students in grades 3–6 attended a Family Literacy Night at the Brunswick Area Heritage Museum, where families explored the Civil War era. Attendees practiced Morse code, solved ciphers, studied original handwritten documents, and heard stories from the period. The event provided a unique, hands-on opportunity for both students and parents to engage with history.
Fourth through sixth graders also attended the Arrow Rock Children’s Craft Festival, experiencing 19th-century crafts and activities. Seventh-grade students in Ancient History became ancient scribes, creating messages in Sumerian cuneiform and the Phoenician alphabet using homemade clay tablets, helping students understand how writing systems evolved and giving them a creative connection to history.
Athletics are an important part of Brunswick R-II student life. The Thunder varsity softball game against Higbee was canceled due to wet field conditions, while junior high and varsity teams continue to compete in softball, football, and cross country. Brunswick also hosts various tournaments, providing students opportunities to compete regionally. Beyond athletics, Brunswick students are active in FBLA, participating in district officer meetings, planning leadership conferences, and engaging in competitions. Upcoming events include the Book Fair from September 29 to October 3, promoting literacy and reading.
Keytesville R-III: Fundraising, FCCLA, and Learning Experiences

Keytesville students are also involved in FCCLA, attending regional meetings with inspiring speakers, workshops, and games. Chapter President Hannah received recognition for her contributions.
Every four years, Keytesville third through sixth graders visit the Missouri State Capitol in Jefferson City, touring the Capitol, observing legislative procedures, and stepping inside the House floor under supervision. The trip concluded with a picnic and a stop at Central Dairy, creating a memorable and educational experience.
