Alice Joyce Rolf, 90, of Alma, MO, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, October 21, 2025, at Meyer Care Center at John Knox Village in Higginsville, MO surrounded by her sons and other family members.

Alice was born on April 3, 1935, in Alma, MO, to Ewin A. and Edna (Dankenbring) Steffens. She was baptized on April 24, 1935 at Trinity Lutheran Church in Alma, MO and was confirmed in the Christian faith on April 10, 1949, also at Trinity Lutheran Church. Alice attended Trinity Lutheran School in Alma, MO and Alma High School, graduating in 1953. She married Milton D. Rolf on March 4, 1956, and they began their life together in Alma.

Early in her married life, Alice worked as an assistant to a Colonel in the U.S. Army when Milton was stationed at Fort Ord in Monterey, CA. Upon their return to Missouri following Milton’s service, she worked as a typist in Kansas City and later as a secretary at Whiteman Air Force Base. She later stayed busy helping Milton in his real estate brokerage and as a homemaker, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother.

Alice loved her family and her home. She regularly made multi-course meals. She loved sports and rarely missed a sporting event involving her children and grandchildren (often packing amazing food for track meets!). And, anyone who knew Alice was aware of her fondness for purses – throughout her life, including in her later years when she was not leaving the home as much, she would still pick a purse to match her outfit.

Alice was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Alma, MO. She trusted Jesus Christ as her Savior by grace alone through faith alone. Her family will cherish and carry in our hearts our fond memories of her.

Alice was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, and her granddaughter, Hadley Rolf.

She is survived by her sons Derron Rolf (Connie) of Alma, MO and Devon Rolf (Rebecca) of Overland Park, KS, eight grandchildren (and a grandson-in-law and a granddaughter-in-law), one great-grandchild, and a brother.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Thursday, October 30, 2025, at Trinity Lutheran Church in Alma, MO with Reverend Bernard Ross III officiating, with interment following the service at the Trinity cemetery.

Visitation will also be held at Trinity prior to the funeral service from 9:30a.m. to 10:45a.m. The service will also be live streamed, accessible via Trinity’s website www.trinitylutheranalmamo.com.

In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to The Hadley Rolf Memorial Fund for the benefit of Trinity Lutheran School in Alma, MO or Saint Paul Lutheran High School in Concordia, MO.
