Credit: Screenshot of Fox 16 Federal authorities are investigating the discovery of more than 300 piles of cremated human remains dumped in the Nevada desert near the small town of Searchlight, about an hour south of Las Vegas. The remains were first discovered in late July by a local man exploring the area, who found hundreds of small piles scattered across the desert floor, each believed to represent the ashes of an individual. Officials later confirmed the material was human cremains, the pulverized bone that remains after cremation. According to local media, workers from Palm Mortuaries and Cemeteries stepped in this week to recover the remains.
