Former Special Counsel Jack Smith took a veiled shot at President Trump in a letter to Senate Judiciary Chairman Chuck Grassley. Smith’s lawyers jabbed Trump in a letter to Grassley arguing that politics had no influence whatsoever on Jack Smith’s investigation into Trump. The attorneys claimed “such political meddling” in prosecutorial actions risks “turning impartial law enforcement agencies into partisan tools to protect the President’s allies and punish his perceived adversaries.” Jack Smith is also lobbying to publicly testify before Congress about his investigation into Trump. “Mr. Smith is fully committed to providing information about the work of the Special Counsel’s Office, and we are committed to working with you to provide the public an opportunity to hear directly from Mr. Smith regarding his work,”…
