A federal judge on Monday evening gave US Attorney Lindsey Halligan a temporary win after the DOJ appealed a magistrate judge’s order to hand over grand jury materials in Comey’s criminal case. Comey was previously indicted on two counts – false statements and obstruction of a congressional proceeding. James Comey’s false statements charge is related to his September 2020 Senate testimony on whether he authorized leaks to the media. Earlier Monday, a magistrate judge ordered the Justice Department to turn over grand jury materials to Comey, claims “government conduct” may have tainted the case.
