Kenneth Eugene Grapes, 88, of Marshall, MO, died Tuesday, November 18, 2025, at Boone Hospital Center in Columbia.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, November 22, 2025, at Campbell-Lewis Chapel in Marshall with William W. Harlow officiating. Burial will follow in Old Lamine Cemetery. Visitation will be from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. Saturday at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers memorials are suggested to Old Lamine Cemetery and an online guestbook is available at www.campbell-lewis.com
Born October 18, 1937, in Redlands, CA, he was the son of the late Eugene Thomas Grapes and Evelyn Huber Grapes. Ken lived in Saline County most of his life and was a 1955 graduate of Marshall High School. On August 18, 1956, he married Virginia “Jenny” Self who survives of the home. He worked for several years at W.B. Young in Marshall and for many years owned and operated Ken’s Backhoe and Trucking. Ken was a talented man who could do just about anything as far as construction, dirt work and trucking, but was also a lead guitar and lead vocalist in a band. Ken and Jenny were blessed with three daughters, and with family being so important to him, he made sure that they all did things as a family.
In addition to his wife of 69 years, Jenny; he is survived by their three daughters: Vicky Steding (Richard) of Marshall, Lisa Ault (Jim) of Marshall and Pam Beach (Brad) of Overland Park, KS; seven grandchildren: MacKenzie, Morgan, Kylie, Blake, Evan, Drew and Sophia; five great-grandchildren: Alli, Lyric, Jordyn, Owen and Wrenley; one sister, Lorene Korte of California, MO; as well as nieces, nephews and other extended family.
