JEFFERSON CITY, Mo. – Missouri Secretary of State Denny Hoskins announced a new agreement with the State of Kansas to improve voter roll maintenance and ensure more accurate, up-to-date voter registration records in both states.
Under this memorandum of understanding, Missouri and Kansas will securely exchange voter registration information to help local election authorities identify individuals who have moved across the state line but may still have active registrations in their former jurisdiction. With thousands of Missourians and Kansans relocating between the Kansas City metropolitan counties each year, this collaboration will directly support strong list maintenance practices and help reduce duplicate registrations.
“This partnership is good government, plain and simple,” Secretary Hoskins said. “Missouri already conducts rigorous list maintenance under federal and state law, but working directly with Kansas allows us to improve accuracy even further. When voters move, their information should follow them—and our local election officials deserve every available tool to keep the rolls clean, current, and transparent. I appreciate Secretary Schwab’s leadership and look forward to continued collaboration that strengthens election integrity on both sides of the state line.”
The agreement aligns with Missouri’s long-standing commitment to maintaining accurate voter registration records, supporting local election authorities, and promoting confidence in election administration. It also reflects a growing trend of states voluntarily partnering to improve data-sharing capabilities and streamline election processes.
