Billy Wayne McWilliams, 89, of Bogard, Missouri; passed away, Saturday, December 20, 2025, in Carrollton, Missouri.
He was born on March 11, 1936, in Carroll County, Missouri. Billy was the son of Herbert and Sarah Maude (Sykes) McWilliams. He grew up on a farm in Hill Township near Coloma, Missouri and graduated from Bogard High School in 1954.
After High School Billy went to Montana and worked several jobs while staying with his Uncle Dick and Aunt Ada. Later he got a job with a construction company that built grain elevators, which led him to Western Kansas. When he landed there he worked for an oil refinery in Shallow Water, Kansas and Scotty’s Welding in Scott City where he learned to weld. Also while he was in Kansas, he enlisted in the Air National Guard and did his boot camp at Lackland Air Force Base in San Antonio, Texas. When he returned to Missouri he worked for the Gas Service Company for 22 years where he started out as a welder and later advanced to the role of foreman before retiring.
Outside of work Billy liked spending time outdoors. He enjoyed camping, fishing and his Mark Twain Boat. Billy took his family on many vacations to the Mountains, National Parks, and to Pomme De Terre Lake. In his later years he worked hard on his yard, and looked forward to Spring when he could take his Bad Boy Mower out to mow the yard and the lot next door.
Billy is survived by his wife Sharon McWilliams, of Bogard, Missouri; two sons, Brad McWilliams and wife Gail, Wichita, Kansas and Jeff McWilliams and wife Keriann, Wichita, Kansas; six grandchildren and eight great grandchildren and his brother, Eugene McWilliams (Mary Sue) Bosworth, Missouri.
He was preceded in death by his parents and his sister, Nellie Jo “Mickey” Miller.
Funeral services will be held held at 1:00 p.m., Saturday December 27, 2025 at the Bittiker Funeral Home, Carrollton, Missouri, with Pastor Clifton Long officiating.
Burial will be in the Braden Cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday at Bittiker Funeral Home.
Pallbearers will be Brad McWilliams, Brandon McWilliams, Matt McWilliams, Jeff McWilliams, Ryan McWilliams, and Nick McWilliams.
Honorary pallbearers will be Matt Black, Daniel Michot, Crestan Schwein, Beau McWilliams and Jace Black
The family suggests memorial to Braden Cemetery, Shirkey Hospice or American Cancer Association
