Don Alan Ogg, 66, of Richmond, passed away Friday, January 9, 2026, at his home.
Don was born on March 8, 1959, in Richmond, the son of Vernon and Emogene (Snider) Ogg, the youngest of three sons. He was united in marriage to Ellen Sloan on July 4, 1980; she preceded him in death on May 3, 1995. He was later united in marriage to Patti Mabary on July 5, 2000; she survives of the home.
Additional survivors include: son, James Ward; daughter, Angelia (Alex) Ward; five grandchildren: Breanne Parrett, Lathaniel Ward, Peydon Forster, Gage Parker, and Alexis Ward; great-granddaughter, Alaia Parrett and one on-the-way; two brothers, Gary (Janice) Ogg and Roger Ogg, both of Richmond; and nephew, Kevin (Jamie) Ogg.
He was preceded in death by his parents and first wife.
Don attended grade school in Elkhorn and Richmond and graduated from Richmond High School in 1977. Following graduation, he began his career at the General Motors Fairfax Plant, where he worked faithfully until his retirement in 2020. In addition to his career at GM, Don also did drywall work and devoted time to helping on the family farm, especially in the later years of his loved ones’ lives.
A kind and generous man, Don lived his life in service to others. He served as a deacon at Hickory Grove Baptist Church and most recently attended Richmond Assembly of God Church. Don had a deep love for tractors and found great joy in giving tractor rides to his grandkids. He was also a devoted animal lover. Known for his loving heart-and occasional stubborn streak-Don was truly one of the nicest people you could ever meet. He will be dearly missed by his family and friends.

Visitation with funeral services will be held on Tuesday, January 20, 2026, at Thurman Funeral Home in Richmond, with visitation beginning at 1:00 P.M., with services to follow at 2:00 P.M.
