Evelyn Rae Roberts, age 95, of Brookfield, passed away Saturday afternoon, January 10, 2026, in Brookfield, MO.
Evelyn Rae was born on January 30, 1930, the daughter of Marvin and Viola (Venable) Doughty in Kansas City, MO. On March 13, 1949, she married James Waldo Roberts in Brookfield, MO; he preceded her in death on December 12, 2016.
Evelyn became a member of the Trintiy United Methodist Church in Brookfield in the spring of 1950. She enjoyed going square dancing with Waldo and their friends. Evelyn was a homemaker and helped out with all aspects of their dairy farm just outside of Saint Catharine. There they raised all three of their children, Kathleen, Melvin, and Susan. Evelyn always went out of her way to meet the needs of her family and making sure that their kids made it to their activities, ball games, and 4-H meeting. She took pride in caring for her family, her family was her everything.
Evelyn is survived by her son-in-law, Wally Spindler; ten grandchildren, Robbie Briggs, Mike Huff, Amy Huff, Melanie Huff, Shawn Huff, Caleb Spindler, Jake Spindler, Corey Spindler, Jaden Spindler, and Sarah Malloy; several great-great grandchildren, and relatives.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Marvin and Viola Doughty; husband, James Waldo Roberts; two daughters, Kathleen Huff and Susan Spindler; and one son, Melvin Roberts.
A visitation to Celebrate the Life of Evelyn Roberts will be held at the Rhodes Funeral Home in Brookfield, MO; on Sunday, February 1, 2026, from 12:00 pm. to 2:00 pm. with family receiving friends at this time. Arrangements are entrusted to the care and direction of Rhodes Funeral Home, Brookfield, MO.
