Rep. Anna Paulina Luna (R-FL) blasted Senate Majority Leader John Thune (R-SD) on Wednesday ahead of the Senate’s consideration of the SAVE Act, which passed in the House with unanimous GOP support earlier.  This comes after Thune recently reportedly dismissed the idea of a standing filibuster to override the filibuster’s 60-vote threshold. “There aren’t anywhere close to the votes” to change the rule, he said. He further told reporters that the plan “doesn’t have a future.” He added, “Is there another way of getting there? We’ll see.” Thune hasn’t even signed on to co-sponsor the bill, and it’s unclear whether he’d even vote to mandate documentary proof of citizenship to vote in federal elections.
