Kelly Ann (Legate) Covey, 65, of Lexington, Missouri passed away Thursday, February 19, 2026, at North Kansas City Hospital surrounded by her loving family.
A Celebration of Life will take place at 2:00 p.m., Tuesday, February 24, 2026, at Lexington United Methodist Church, 1211 S. Highway 13, Lexington, MO, 64067. Inurnment will follow at Memory Gardens in Lexington. In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to the family in care of Brad Motley to help with funeral expenses. Kelly was born on February 6, 1961, in Kansas City, Missouri to Thomas and Elizabeth Rose (Jackson) Legate. In 1979, she graduated from Lexington High School. Kelly worked many years at Higginsville Hab Center. Kelly was united in marriage to William “Randy” Randall Covey in Lexington, Missouri. He preceded her in death on January 11, 2024. She found immense joy in the simple pleasures of life, with her daily conversations on the phone with her grandkids being the highlight of her day. Kelly cherished her moments spent with family and friends, often exploring local yard sales, scrolling through marketplace deals, and enjoying leisurely drives around town. She delighted in sitting on her porch, basking in the sun, and sharing laughter with loved ones. Family would like to extend a thank you to all the staff that cared for her at Fresenius Kidney Care Letholt in Richmond, Missouri that became part of her family.
Kelly is survived by three children, Brad (Amber) Motley of Lexington, MO, Angela (Loren) Moore of Sweet Springs, MO, and Sarah (Joshua) Campbell of Lexington, MO; eight grandchildren, John, Neva, Baby Motley, Mariah, Bentley, Xander, Chloe, and Ayden; three brothers, Roger Legate of Topeka, KS, Steve Legate of Richmond, MO, and Tom Legate of Lexington, MO; extended family members, Madonna Motley, Patricia Ratliff, and Richard Motley; and many nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
Along with both her parents, Kelly was preceded in death by her loving husband, William Randall Covey; and a sister, Sharon Bartley.
