John W. “Bill” Regan, age 84, resident of Kansas City, Missouri and former resident of Chillicothe, Missouri, passed away on Thursday, February 26, 2026, at Tiffany Springs Memory Care, Kansas City, Missouri.
Bill was born the son of John Joseph and Lestie (Coberly) Regan on February 16, 1942 in Chillicothe, Missouri. A graduate of Chillicothe High School in 1960, Bill pursued a successful career in real estate, dedicating 35 years to A&T Realty in Chillicothe, Missouri. Prior to his real estate career, he spent 15 years at Donaldson’s Company. Bill is known for his professionalism, integrity and commitment to his clients and colleagues.
Bill was an active member of the community, having been a former member of the Elks Lodge and Eagles Club. He had a passion for the outdoors, particularly deer hunting as well as pheasant, rabbit and squirrel hunting. He also enjoyed riding horses.
Bill was a devoted life partner of nearly 47 years to Marilyn Heckelbeck. She survives of the home. He was a loving father to his children, Gena Wilcox, and her husband Robbie of Springfield, Missouri, Leigh Ann Sicotti and her husband, Mark, Mike Heckebeck and his wife, Cherie, Joe Heckelbeck and his wife, Robin, and Dan Heckelbeck; and proud grandfather to Gaston and Paige Wilcox, Brandon Carpenter, Dawn Flood, Alisha Smith, Derek Heckelbeck, Bailey DeFries and Dawson Heckelbeck who all brought him immense joy. Bill is also survived by his brother, James “Jim” Regan and his wife, Cindy, of Liberty, Missouri; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; his daughter,
Michelle Regan; three brothers, Clarence Regan, Richard Regan, and Robert “Bobby” Regan; and one sister, Dorothy Vanderpool.
Bills life will be celebrated by his family and friends, who will remember his humor and love for adventure. He will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
A cremation was held and a memorial service will be held at a later date. Memorial contributions may be made to the Brighrt Focus Foundation for Alzheimer’s Disease Research and may be left at or mailed to Lindley Funeral Home, P.O. Box 47, Chillicothe, Missouri 64601.
