Douglas Wayne Spainhour, age 72, a resident of Hale, Missouri, passed away on Wednesday, March 11, 2026 at Life Care Center of Carrollton, Carrollton, Missouri.
Douglas was born on October 24, 1953 in Oceanside, California, the son of Harold and Beverly (Haynes) Spainhour. He was united in marriage to Patricia Sharman in 1973, to this union two children were born, his son Lloyd Wayne Spainhour and his daughter, Melissa Renee York.
Douglas farmed and milked cows for several years before becoming a welder for Cox Manufacturing. He then worked for Morton Builders and Grand Builders. Douglas served four years in the United States Army before working at Dura in Brookfield, Missouri. He enjoyed hunting and fishing as well as going camping in his spare time.
Survivors include his son, Lloyd Wayne Spainhour (Liz) of Meadville, Missouri; his daughter, Melissa York of Utica, Missouri; nine grandchildren, Aaron, Shelby, Miranda, Lucretia, Gregory, Riley, Harley, Matthew and Alyssa; five great grandchildren, Declyn, Adalynn, Camdyn, Rhett and Kinsley; one brother, Larry Spainhour (Lisabeth) of Hale, Missouri; nephews, Larry Scott, Michael Spainhour, and nieces, Amy Gann and Katie Lightle; and a great niece and nephew. He was preceded in death by his parents; his sister, Linda Spainhour; and one nephew, Jeremiah Spainhour.
Graveside services will be held at the Avalon Cemetery, Avalon, Missouri, on Friday, March 20, 2026 at 1:00 p.m. Memorial contributions may be made to the Avalon Cemetery and may be left at or mailed to Lindley Funeral Home, P.O.
