Billionaire entrepreneur Elon Musk has offered to cover the salaries of Transportation Security Administration (TSA) personnel during the ongoing partial government shutdown affecting the Department of Homeland Security (DHS). The shutdown, which began in February, stems from the Democrats forcing a funding standoff in Congress over the DHS budget. Democrats have pushed to separate TSA funding from broader DHS operations, including immigration enforcement.
