Dennis Kevin Wozniak, age 79, of Higginsville, MO died on May 3, 2026 at Meyer Care Center, his home for the last 18 years. He was born on October 4, 1946 to John A. Wozniak, Sr. and Julia Klein Wozniak in Kansas City, MO.
Dennis was baptized into the Catholic faith on October 20, 1946 and confirmed on February 23, 1956 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Higginsville, MO. Dennis was a devout Catholic and a lifelong parishioner of St. Mary’s Catholic Church. He attended St. Mary’s Catholic School 1st through 8th grade. He is a graduate of the Class of 1965 from Higginsville High School. Dennis worked 40+ years at Action Products in Odessa, MO. During this time, he was an Auxiliary Reserve Officer for several years for the City of Higginsville.
Dennis was an avid racing fan and traveled often to many NASCAR events including several to the Daytona 500. He had season tickets to the Kansas Speedway for many years. Dennis had a love of cars and enjoyed camping and trout fishing at Bennett Springs State Park. He also was a Chiefs football fan and Royals baseball fan and enjoyed listening to country music including Johnny Cash, Elvis Presley and Merle Haggard. Dennis is remembered for his enjoyment of a simple life and unending generosity. While living at Meyer Care Center, numerous caretakers considered Dennis “their buddy”.
Dennis is survived by his double first cousin and primary care advocate Marie Wozniak Dittmer (Mark) and their children Joshua Dittmer, Jonathan Dittmer (Laura), James Dittmer (Jessica) and Jacob Dittmer and their families. Dennis attended every birthday party and holiday with Marie and Mark’s four sons over the years and Dennis was known for his special gift giving. Also surviving are 12 first cousins.
Dennis was preceded in death by his parents, brothers John Wozniak Jr. and Phillip Wozniak and sister Charla Wozniak and 2 first cousins.
Visitation will be on Monday, May 11, 2026 from 10:00 to 11:00 a.m. at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Higginsville, MO. Funeral mass will be held at 11:00 a.m. at St. Mary’s Catholic Church with Father Justin Hoye officiating. Interment will follow at St. Mary’s Catholic Cemetery in Higginsville, MO. Memorials are suggested to St. Mary’s Cemetery, Higginsville, MO. Mass intentions may be offered at St. Mary’s Catholic Church.
