That Paris, once the ‘city of lights’, has become a chaotic environment with hordes of illegal migrants loitering about and engaging in criminal behavior is, unfortunately, not news. But the story of Hanza, called ‘La Douane’ (‘the Custom’s Officer’) has gained the world’s headlines for the surreal situation that is not without some humor in it. To some, the Algerian teen is a likable kid, to others a juvenile delinquent symbolizing France’s ‘broken youth’.
