Julie (Leslie) Steffens, 50, of Marshall, Missouri, passed away on June 18, 2026.

Julie loved the outdoors and found joy in nature’s simple pleasures. She enjoyed fishing, camping, and hiking, and was happiest when she could spend time outside surrounded by the beauty of the world around her. She also had a special love for animals, especially her faithful dog, Shadow, who was rarely far from her side and was her constant companion through the years.

Julie loved Jesus Christ as her Lord and Savior She also loved her children who remained in her thoughts and in her heart throughout her life.

Julie is survived by her mother Wendy Leslie of Marshall, Missouri; her husband Brian Steffens of Marshall, children Megan Steffens (Markie Beltram) and grandson Alexavier of Independence, Kristin Boynton (Harrison) of Sweet Springs, Kylie Essilfie (Samuel) of Marshall, and Kolton Steffens of Marshall; her sisters, Joy Vandel (Phil) of Saint Joseph, Amanda Schulte (Adam) of Liberty, and several nieces, nephews, extended family members, and friends.

She was preceded in death by her biological father, Chris Josephsen of Arizona, and father Ed Leslie of Marshall, who lovingly raised her as his own.

Julie will be remembered for her adventurous spirit, her love of the outdoors, and the affection she shared with the people and animals she loved. Whether camping, exploring a hiking trail, or spending time with Shadow, she found happiness in life’s simple moments.

Memorial services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Monday, July 6, 2026, at Campbell-Lewis Funeral Home in Marshall with William W. Harlow officiating. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service. In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to the family, to help defray final expenses, with checks made payable to Campbell-Lewis Funeral Home.
