Vernon Lee Swires, 66, of Gilliam, MO, died Sunday, August 9, 2026, at his home.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Friday, August 14, 2026, at Campbell-Lewis Funeral Home in Marshall with Rev. Mike Hibbard officiating. Visitation will be held prior to the service from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. Burial will follow at Sunset Gardens Cemetery. Born November 9, 1959, in Los Angeles, CA, he was the son of the late Donald Wayne Swires and Shirley Jean Hutchinson Swires. On April 16, 1992, he married Serena Ann Lowe who survives the home. Vernon enjoyed gardening, fishing, spending time with grandkids, and teasing his wife and kids.
In addition to his wife of 34 years, Serena, he is survived by five children: Constance, Vernon Lee II, Tanya (Kevin), Hayley, and Heather (Mike); three grandchildren: Aubrey, Bentley, and Dixie; three siblings: Dennis Swires, Steven Swires, and Teresa Riggs; and several nieces and nephews.
Vernon was preceded in death by his parents; one sister, Debbie Osborne; one son, Cody Swires; one grandchild, Baby Friend; and three great-nieces: Heather, Lillyanna, and Cheyanna.
