Carolin Jean Stigall, 89, of Richmond, passed away Tuesday, August 18, 2026, at her daughter’s home in Richmond.
Carolin was born on August 3, 1937, in Ray County, the daughter of Joseph and Norine (Trindle) Perez. She was united in marriage to James W. “J.W.” Stigall of Henrietta on July 19, 1957; he preceded her in death on July 19, 2012.
Survivors include: daughter, Lisa (Dan) Link of Richmond; four grandchildren: Jeremiah Schmidt, Amber Schmidt (Curtis Johnson), Jessica (Ryan) Carr, and Ryan (Ashley) King; and 10 great-grandchildren: Blake Stickley, Kyan Carr, Madi Carr, Gabriel Johnson, Lilyan Carr, Jace Arnold, Olivia Mayberry, Grayson King, Charley Carr, and Violet Carr.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, brother, Kenny Perez, three sisters, JoAnn Radier, Leona Briant, and Patricia O’Dell.
Carolin was raised and educated in Richmond, graduating from Richmond High School with the Class of 1965. Following high school, she went to work for Newt Hamacher in the Ray County Clerk’s Office. She later began a long career at Lake City Army Ammunition Plant, where she worked faithfully until her retirement.
Along with her career outside the home, Carolin was a devoted wife, mother, and homemaker. Her family was always at the heart of her life, and some of her greatest joys came from simply being together. She especially treasured family get-togethers and the time spent visiting, laughing, and making memories with those she loved.
Carolin was also well-known for her green thumb. She had a natural gift for growing just about anything and took great pride in her plants and flowers. Her beautiful flowers were a reflection of the care and attention she gave to the things she loved. Above all, Carolin will be remembered for her devotion to her family and the simple joys that made her happiest-being surrounded by those she loved and tending to the beauty she grew around her.
The family suggests memorial contributions be made to Shirkey Hospice. They can be left at or mailed to Thurman Funeral Home, 507 East Main Street-P.O. Box 190, Richmond, MO 64085.
Visitation with funeral services will be held on Monday, August 24, 2026, at Thurman Funeral Home in Richmond, with visitation beginning at 2:30 P.M., with services to follow at 3:00 P.M. Burial will be in Richmond Memory Gardens. Please remember to share your memories of Carolin with the family by visiting www.thurmanfuneralhome.com.
