Memories of Growing Up in Chariton County | Joyce Curren Kelly | October Quarterly Program

Join us on Sunday, October 19, 2025, at 2:00pm at the Chariton County Historical Society museum for our fall quarterly program. Joyce (Curren) Kelly will reminisce about her memories growing up in Chariton County.
Joyce is the fifth of twelve siblings. She attended a one room schoolhouse in Triplett, followed by two years at Dalton Vocational High School and the final two years at Northwestern High School in Mendon.
Following graduation and the passing of her father, Joyce’s family relocated to Columbia, MO. She worked at the University Hospital for two years before joining State Farm Insurance Companies, where she spent 26 years prior to retirement.
Joyce was married to her late husband, Bill, for 40 years. They have two children, Vanessa and April, and two grandchildren, Angela and Kelli.
Additionally, Joyce has two bonus grandchildren, Kyra and London.
Joyce is active in her church and community.
