Luke 24:49
“Behold, I send the Promise of My Father upon you; but tarry in the city of Jerusalem until you are endued with power from on high.” Before Jesus sent His disciples out into the world, He first wanted them filled up. As the New Testament was being birthed in Jerusalem, Jesus set forth an essential prerequisite for a godly testimony in the world and ministry among the brethren—the empowerment of the Holy Spirit.
Unfortunately, far too many Christians today are ineffective in their spiritual endeavors because they have never experienced the filling of the Holy Spirit. They are born-again and have eternal life but suffer from spiritual anemia—never having known the Holy Spirit’s divine power and anointing. They need power from on high.
Do you have the Promise of the Father?
Are you seemingly powerless against sin and visionless regarding Christian service? If you want God to move in your life and experience His power, go to your personal Jerusalem. Find a quiet place to converse with God and tarry there in sweet communion. If need be, confess that like Lazarus of old, you are bound and held back by the grave cloths of sin. Repent, and seek His forgiveness. Surrender yourself entirely—body, soul, and spirit—to the Lord. Ask Him to grant you the power, passion, and vision of heaven. If you will do this, you can be confident that He who promised will act.
Dear saint, nothing compares to the limitless power that God supplies. Be filled with the Holy Spirit, and He will impart all that is needed to do the will of Christ and glorify His name.
Awaiting His Return,
