From classroom achievements and cultural programs to basketball and football victories, students across Brunswick, Keytesville, Northwestern, and Salisbury schools have been busy this season. This roundup highlights academic successes, creative projects, community involvement, and sports scores from Junior High and High School teams, including updates for the combined Thunder teams.

Brunswick R-II School District

The Teaching Professions class helped 48 children select books at the school book fair, assisting with setup and student shopping. Kindergarten and 1st grade students received safety instruction from Deputy Boeger, covering seat belts, booster seats, back seat safety, and Halloween precautions.

The 4th through 6th graders celebrated surpassing their AR goals for the first quarter, earning special treats for their achievements. Graphic Arts students created banners honoring veterans, produced vinyl door decals, and updated canvas prints for Central Office, in addition to designing shirts and bags for HOSA, FBLA, Teaching Professions, and Special Olympics.

Mrs. Sanders’s son, Jeanson Liserme, presented 5th and 6th graders with a lesson in Haitian Creole and shared insights about life in Haiti.

Keytesville R-III School District

FCCLA students packed over 80 Boo! Grams in preparation for Halloween. The Drama Club will perform “Need a Lift?” on November 8th at 7:00 PM in the gymnasium. Special Persons Day was celebrated successfully, with photos shared in multiple posts.

Red Ribbon Week featured themed days including wearing red, pajamas, neon colors, mismatched clothes, camouflage, and Halloween costumes (K-6 students changed into costumes before parties). Junior High and Varsity Cheerleaders are selling school spirit wear as a fundraiser, with order forms available through students or by emailing Coach Delinda Meyer.

Northwestern R-I School District

Gentry was recognized as this week’s Rising Eagle for encouraging and complimenting classmates. Senior Asa Elliott job-shadowed a local carpenter through the Building Trades Program at Grand River Technical School, gaining hands-on experience.

Salisbury R-IV School District

The MSHSAA Class 2-3 District 4 Cross Country Championship will take place on November 1, 2025, at Platte Ridge Park in Platte City. Baking and Pastry students are preparing desserts for Thanksgiving, with orders due by November 17th for pickup on November 25th.

Business Teacher Stephanie Gladbach was recognized as a finalist at the Missouri Teacher of the Year banquet for her contributions to the business program, FBLA, yearbook production, and school branding initiatives. The “Shoes from the Heart — Pass for Cash” event at a recent football game raised $510 for a Shoe Closet at the high school.
