JEFFERSON CITY, MISSOURI — Missouri State Senator Mike Moon and Missouri State Representative Burt Whaley filed the Missouri Prenatal Equal Protection Act this week in their respective chambers to completely abolish abortion in the state.
Senate Bill 951 and House Bill 1682 would provide equal protection of the laws for preborn babies in Missouri without exception or compromise, as well as rightly declare the abortion amendment enshrined into the Missouri Constitution to be null and void.
“There are still thousands of Missouri preborn babies murdered every year by abortion,” remarked Senator Moon. “We have a duty as lawmakers to abolish abortion. The abortion amendment in the Missouri Constitution is not a valid excuse for inaction or delay.”
In the election of 2024, pro-abortion donors and organizations flooded Missouri with millions of dollars in campaign funds, which resulted in the narrow passage of an abortion amendment to the Missouri Constitution. The measure claimed a purported right to abortion in the Missouri Constitution and overturned previous abortion regulations in Missouri.
Christian lawmakers and grassroots conservatives are fighting back with the Missouri Prenatal Equal Protection Act, which would nullify the abortion amendment while criminalizing abortion as murder for all parties willfully involved.
This legislation would indeed recognize the abortion amendment as a violation of the Fourteenth Amendment to the United States Constitution, which says that “no state shall deny to any person within its jurisdiction the equal protection of the laws.” Because the United States Constitution is the highest law of the land, Missouri lawmakers have the duty to nullify the abortion amendment in the Missouri Constitution.
“We cannot continue a culture that takes the life and liberty of preborn babies,” added Representative Whaley. “Instead of protecting a culture that allows the shedding of innocent blood, we must protect preborn babies from abortion and the souls of the mothers who commit them by deterring abortions in the first place. This legislation will help us accomplish this simple directive from God.”
The abortion amendment also defies the higher Law of God, which plainly forbids the intentional murder of preborn babies. Missouri lawmakers are bound to fear God rather than men, meaning that they cannot recognize an amendment in the Missouri Constitution authorizing the right to murder babies made in the image of God. They must obey Jesus Christ, the King of Kings and Lord of Lords, by abolishing abortion and establishing equal protection of the laws for preborn babies.
