A suspect accused of setting a man on fire in Times Square has fled to Egypt, according to the New York Police Department. On March 16, 2025, Mark Whyte, 45, was left in critical but stable condition with severe burns after being lit on fire by an attacker. The NYPD has identified the suspect as a 23-year-old food cart worker, but his name has not been officially released.
