In an interview with Irish television channel RTE 1, O’Donnell was asked by the host about whether she respected the decision of the American people. “A lot of people did vote for him,” the host said. “Do you accept their right to do that and their opinion of him?” O’Donnell responded: Well, I respect their right to do that.
