US and Ukrainian officials held bilateral talks today (23) on Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, on the eve of tomorrow’s second round of negotiations between American and Russian representatives. The détente between the two superpowers aims to reestablish good diplomatic relations and end the war in Ukraine. According to Ukraine’s defense minister Rustem Umerov, today’s talks with Ukraine centered on proposals to safeguard energy facilities and critical infrastructure. This comes as US special envoy Steve Witkoff expressed great optimism about the chances for ending Europe’s deadliest war since WW2.
