President Trump greets Japanese Prime Minister Shigeru Ishiba at the White House – February 7, 2025 President Trump announced this morning that he spoke to the Japanese Prime Minister, and he plans to meet with Japan’s “top team” of negotiators to strike a deal on tariffs. Japan is one of over 50 countries that has contacted President Trump seeking a negotiation on the tariffs he levied last week. “Countries from all over the World are talking to us,” the President said. “They [Japan] have treated the U.S. very poorly on Trade.
