The New York Post reported that rescue efforts are underway after the chopper went down near Pier 40 on West Houston Street and West Street around 3:15 p.m. Law enforcement officials confirmed to ABC News that all six people on board were killed when the chopper helicopter crashed. Sources also revealedto the outlet that five of the victims were tourists from Spain and the pilot. NYC residents on social media said there was a “loud thumping noise” when the helicopter crashed.
