Still, on January 20th, 2025, President Trump named former J6 defense attorney, Ed Martin, as interim DC U.S. Attorney, followed by a formal, permanent appointment on February 17th. This appointment has turned out to be even more contentious than the appointment of Kash Patel, whose resume includes investigating Crossfire Hurricane and RussiaGate, working in counter-terrorism, and working as Chief of Staff to the Secretary of Defense.
