The Texas House has passed Senate Bill 10, which requires the display of the Ten Commandments in every public-school classroom across the state. The bill passed by a vote of 82–46, with several Democrats joining Republicans in support. It now returns to the Senate for final approval before being sent to Governor Greg Abbott, who is expected to sign it into law. The legislation would take effect on September 1th, aligning with the start of the new school year.
