Once a marginal figure, Geert Wilders is today the leader of largest and most consequential party. Wilders appears to be heading to his second consecutive electoral victory in the Netherlands. Geert Wilders took his PVV (Freedom Party) to a spectacular victory in the last elections in the Netherlands, which took place in November 2023. The Dutch political system being what it is, the present ruling coalition was only negotiated in May 2024 and took office in July 2024.
