But all through his trajectory, allegations of sexual misconduct kept accumulating, until it all broke down, in a French version of the American ‘#MeToo’ movement. After being convicted of sexual assault last May, Depardieu will now face trial on charges of raping actress Charlotte Arnould in 2018.
