Britain’s deputy prime minister, Angela Rayner, has resigned after underpaying property tax by around £40,000. Rayner, who was paraded by the U.K. Labour Party as their left-wing working-class hero, announced her resignation on Friday after days of pressure on her position. In her resignation letter, Rayner admitted she “deeply regrets” not seeking “additional specialist tax advice” when buying the Hove property.
