US Senate Republicans invoked the nuclear option on Thursday to speed up the confirmation of President Donald Trump’s nominees. The 53-45 vote came after nearly five hours of bipartisan talks. Senate Democrats slow-walked President Trump’s nominees for over six months now despite being the minority party in the Senate chamber. John Thune released a chart in early September that shows civilian nominees confirmed by unanimous consent collapsing from 817 under H.W. Bush to 1,100 under Clinton, then steadily declining, down to 0 in Trump’s second term. Democrats are doing all they can to thwart the will of the people.
