In a highly unusual move, a federal judge on Thursday recused himself from Oregon’s lawsuit against the Trump Administration over the activation of its National Guard to quell the violence directed toward ICE agents. US District Judge Michael Simon, an Obama appointee, at the request of the DOJ, recused himself due to a conflict of interest involving his wife, Democrat Rep. Suzanne Bonamici. Rep. Bonamici has publicly stated she is against troop deployment to Portland. Judge Karin Immergut, a Trump appointee, will now oversee the case.
