The murder occurred on December 7, 2015, in Versailles, Kentucky, when Ronald Exantus, 38, broke into the home of the Tipton family in the middle of the night. Exantus, who had no prior connection to the family, randomly selected their house and proceeded to stab the sleeping residents with a butcher knife he found in the home.
