Netflix is once again in the crosshairs of conservative parents and critics after controversial clips from its 2020 series, The Baby-Sitters Club, and the 2021-2024 series Strawberry Shortcake: Berry in the Big City resurfaced and went viral on social media. The Babysitters Club reboot, rated TV-G for general audiences and clearly aimed at children, features a scene where a teenage babysitter aggressively confronts hospital staff for “misgendering” a transgender child character named Bailey. In the episode titled “Mary Anne Saves the Day,” the character Mary Anne demands that doctors and nurses use “she/her” pronouns for Bailey, a young boy who identifies as a girl. The scene depicts Mary Anne accusing the doctors of making the child feel “insignificant and humiliated” by not using the preferred pronouns….
