Mikie Sherrill (D-NJ) was blocked from walking with her graduating class at the US Naval Academy (USNA) after being caught up in a cheating scandal. According to records obtained by The New Jersey Globe, Sherrill’s name “was not included on the commencement program” during the May 25, 1994, ceremony. Despite the USNA’s honor code, the congresswoman said she was barred because she would not “rat out” classmates involved in the scandal. As the gubernatorial race tightens against her opponent, Republican Jack Ciattarelli, Sherrill appears to be changing her story yet again.
